The Last Opening at POPUP 310

This Saturday June 5th will be our last day at POPUP 310. For this event we have partnered with FD LUXE to close out this space and kick off the summer proper while we do it.

We will be lacing up some gift bags for the first 300 people through the door. To commemorate this occasion we have pressed up 300 limited edition t-shirts (featuring the above graphic) which will be found in said gift bags along with a mix cd by DJ Sober (courtesy of Red Off Greenville) as well as other goodies from our friends about town.

Of course DJ Sober and Prince William will be on the turntables, Green House is handling the food and cocktails are courtesy of DeLos Vodka.

READY SET GO!

The entries are in and the GMF is gearing up for their annual student art contest, and due to their pending move it will be held this year at POP UP 310.

This year’s contest, “Ready, Set, Go!” requires students to exercise and stretch their creative muscles. Each contestant must choose an action verb and then create an abstract piece of artwork that represents, describes, or illustrates that verb (without the use of text) using one of the following media: photography, painting or drawing. Judges will be looking for creativity, technique and execution, as well as how effectively the artwork represents the chosen verb.

The awards ceremony will be held on Saturday, April 24th from 2 – 4pm. The exhibition will be up through May 9th, so come check it out.

Live Printing Event at POP UP 310 This FRIDAY (6-10 PM)

So we decided the every 2 week opening schedule was a bit too difficult to navigate with everything else going on in Dallas, so we took a bit of a break. But now we're back with some new heat.

This Friday from 6-10 PM join us for All the Way Live, as POP UP 310 co-curator Brian Gibb releases his latest print edition, Private Jets Down to Turks and Caicos. This won't be your typical print release, as Gibb will be actually producing the 15x15 in. three color print LIVE.

Here is a teaser image (the print won't be pixelated). To see it in hi-def you will have to come to the event.

This print will be produced in an edition of 50 and will retail for $60. They will be available for purchase and pick up that night.

There will be works on view by Tony Bones, Marcel Dzama, Shepard Fairey, Richard Garet, Nick Mathis, Ryan McGinness, SamTaylor-Wood and others...

DJ Rerog will be on the turntables, and of course beverages will be served.

POP UP 310 Opens Sat. Feb. 13 (6-9 PM)

So we have been super hard at work getting everything together for this Saturday's opening. Most of this work has been without the use of electricity, as getting that turned on has unexpectedly been quite an ordeal. Fortunately today's building inspection went well and tomorrow there will be light.

There will be an interview featuring POP UP 310 curators, James Cope and Brian Gibb on KERA 90.1. This will air Thursday morning between 5-9 am and 4-7 pm. The interview will also be uploaded to the Art and Seek website. We will post a link to that when it goes live. Special thanks to Stephen Becker for taking time to interview us.

Thanks to Daily Candy for putting us on the weekend to-do list.

Saturday's reception is not to be missed. It's a fantastic group of work, featuring art by emerging to established artists, and one whose name will forever be in the annals of art history. DJ Sober and Prince William will be on the turntables and of course beverages will be served.
